Scholastic

Scholastic orders went home today. They will be due next Wednesday, December 2nd. This November order will definitely arrive before Christmas. We will try to do the December order quickly after, but most likely it will arrive during the break. If you would like to order anything, but keep it as a surprise for Christmas, let me know in an email or sealed note and I will keep it hidden and let you know when they arrive.

Our Grade 2 class will be leading the Advent Mass next Wednesday, December 2nd. All parents are welcome to attend. It will begin around 9:15am as usual.

This Friday is another dress up day. It's fake moustache day. Students can wear a fake moustache (or a real one) and bring in a $1 or 2 for charity.

Report cards go home this Friday.

December 8th is the Tale of the Tape. Students bring in food donations and the class with the most food donations wins a pizza party.

Next Monday is Santa Photos. All students will have their picture taken, as well as a class photo. Students can dress up in special clothes or just Christmas colours.

Special Event

Poppies

Every day this week, Grade 7s will be bringing around poppies. If a student would like to donate $1 or more, they are welcome to bring in their money and get a poppy.

Scholastic Orders went home yesterday and will be due next Monday, November 9th.

We are getting quite a collection of uniform pieces in our classroom. If your are missing a piece, please have your child look around the classroom. Also, I would highly recommend making sure every uniform piece has your child's name in it.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!

Tomorrow, the school is collecting leftover candy for the Agape ministries. Students can bring in any excess candy and donate it.

We have a fairly regular week. P.E. will be Monday, Thursday and Friday. Children should have their P.E. strip on those days and already on beneath their uniform.

Tomorrow we will be sending home a letter from Fr. Justin. Here it is as a preview:

Dear Parents,

I hope you're well!

I wish to inform you that we will be moving First Communion to a weekend Mass, specifically, Saturday, May 14 at 5 p.m.

This is done for one important theological and pastoral reason. Since receiving Communion includes becoming one with Jesus and His Church, it should be done in the context of the greater parish family community. Many priests have found that doing special Masses for baptisms, the Eucharist and Confirmation, have emphasized that it's a 'private' event where only family and friends are invited. This has in turn led to a gap between those receiving the sacraments and the parish family. To improve this connection, we will start celebrating these sacramental moments in the context of the parish family community.

I hope and pray that this makes sense and doesn't cause you any inconvenience. I also hope that all of us realize that our children receiving First Communion don’t just positively affect them and you, but all of us, praise God!

If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you! God bless!
Fr. Justin
